New England Patriots RB Damien Harris sidelined with hamstring injury

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Patriots dropped to 1st place and ran again Damien Harris out for Saturday’s game against Indianapolis Colts because of hamstring injury, will push rookie Rhamondre Stevenson to the leading role.

Harris has been placed on the list of suspected injuries and restricted from training for a week.

He was injured in the previous team’s Week 13 win Buffalo Bills, but despite a goodbye last week, Harris’ hamstring has yet to fully heal for him to play Saturday.

Harris ran for 111 yards and one touchdown with just 10 wins over the Bills. During the season, he led the team with 754 yards on 164 takes (4.6 yards per take), with nine touchdowns.

The 6-foot-tall, 226-pound Stevenson, fourth-round pick in Oklahoma, raced for 429 yards on 100 attempts, with three touchdowns this season.

He had a rough, clumsy start to the season and missed a quick pick-up in last season’s opening loss. Miami Dolphins, which resulted in him being benched for three games. He was back in two games before he was a healthy scratch in the previous win New York Jets on October 24.

Since that time, he has played six games in a row and combined with Harris for a one-of-a-kind punch.

“His attitude, and the way the kid handles himself, has evolved a lot,” running coach Ivan Fears said earlier this week. “You have to love how the kid adapts to who we are and what we need from him. He’s taken all the criticism in the world and has gotten so much better. I think if he continues, As such, he will become something special.”

Stevenson plans to pair up with the veteran Brandon Bolden on Saturday night against the Colts. The team may have moved into the second year of running again JJ Taylor depth, but Taylor remains on the reserve/COVID-19 roster.

As a result, the Patriots may consider pushing the former Nebraska to run again Devine Ozigbo from the practice team. New England Patriots RB Damien Harris sidelined with hamstring injury
