Former Bravo star Nene Leakes seemingly dragged executive producer Andy Cohen into a Twitter rant on Wednesday, August 10. The two have known each other for decades but are now clearly at odds over Leakes’ discrimination lawsuit. The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum claims the show and its production crews have encouraged a toxic work environment and for years ignored their complaints about former “RHOA” cast member Kim Zolciak-Biermann.
In a series of cryptic tweets, the College Hill: Celebrity Edition alumna accused someone of hitting her bag. She doesn’t mention the name or description of her former boss, but fans believe it’s Andy Cohen.
“You’re stopping every job opportunity that comes my way,” the 54-year-old tweeted.
“I’m glad I was able to help all the other black women find jobs that work for them,” Leakes continued. “He kept me from work because I was a threat to his career! Still, he could abuse me for years.”
She added, “I want to release these voice recordings so badly.”
It’s unclear exactly what prompted Leakes to rant. But after retweeting a few snide posts, fans believe she appears to have confirmed it was about the Watch What Happens Live host.
The message read: “Andy used you until he wanted to kick you to the curb and then slandered you so you wouldn’t get any more work. It’s so disappointing and definitely different from how he treats other housewives he doesn’t agree with or has broken up with.”
A handful of Housewives fans have back-and-forth claimed that Love & Marriage: DC star Monique Samuels made similar claims about Cohen. Samuels left The Real Housewives of Potomac after an on-camera argument with a castmate Candiace Dillard Bassett in December 2020.
The tweet read: “She’s been to the Potomac so it’s not just Nene. Many of these women are afraid of what he might do to their careers, so they keep quiet!!! I’m proud of @NeNeLeakes for taking a stand and saying enough is ENOUGH!!!”
As previously reported, Leakes filed her lawsuit against Bravo, NBCUniversal, “RHOA” production companies, True Entertainment and Truly Original, and other executives back in April. It states: “NBC, Bravo and True promote a corporate and workplace culture in which racially insensitive and inappropriate behavior is tolerated; if not encouraged.”
In the lawsuit, Leakes accuses Andy of discrimination and describes how she was forced off the show, which she began filming 13 seasons ago in 2008.
“Since the series began filming, NeNe has been the target of systemic racism from co-star Kim Zolciak-Biermann, which was tolerated by executive Bravo producer Andy Cohen and other executives,” Leakes attorney David deRubertis said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter .
Zolciak-Biermann is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, but mentions various incidents that occurred on “RHOA.” She also allegedly made “racially offensive and stereotypical” comments about co-star Kandi Burruss and called her neighborhood “ghetto.”
Leakes claims her complaints about Zolciak-Biermann were not heard from production and others. Instead, she said her former co-star has been rewarded with a spinoff series.
