The Wisconsin Badgers have already won a regular Big Ten season title and can win it head-on today with a home win over the bottom-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers in Madison.
Nebraska has been slowly turning the corner and has played some of its best baskets of the year in the last few games, including back-to-back ATS wins over two ranked teams at No. 25 Iowa, at Penn State and No. 23 at Ohio State.
Wisconsin has won five straight games and hasn’t lost since his Feb. 12 game against Rutgers. The Badgers defeated the Cornhuskers in a 73-65 win on Thursday, January 27, failing to cover the 9-point margin.
Can the Huskers win their third game in a row? Or at least cover the double-digit spread? Here are the latest Odds of Winning at WynnBET Sportsbook:
Is there something else in the air for Nebraska right now?
The Huskers had their best win of the Fred Hoiberg era, beating an Ohio State team 78-70 last time out. It would be a monumental task to hit a second straight shot, especially when they play their third straight game on the road, but there are reasons Nebraska can hang around today.
The first and foremost reason is the Huskers’ newfound confidence in their outside shooting. Nebraska shot an absurd 65% from 3-point range against Penn State, followed by an above-average night against Ohio State at over 39%. In their last five games, the Huskers rank in the 99th percentile CBB Analytics in 3-point percentage, 100th percentile in free throw percentage, and 94th in overall field goal percentage.
Meanwhile, despite its reputation for strong, physical defense, Wisconsin can be beaten against teams that spread and shoot well. The Badgers are right in the middle with a defensive rating of 100.7 (62nd percentile).
When things get hot for the Huskers, things get uncomfortable at Kohl Center, making the 12-point cushion an easy, airy bet.
