Why the Knicks Can Cover the Contagion

Knicks won on the road vs Atlanta Hawks without Kemba Walker on Saturday, with Alec Burks in the lineup instead. This is a change the Knicks look set to stick with. Walker struggled in defense and wasn’t in the best shape next to Evan Fournier. Julius Randle continues to act as a forward spearhead for the Knicks, so Burks will really just be another shooter instead of replacing Walker as a point guard. Derrick Rose also thinks there will be many minutes of play on the bench, like Immanuel Quickley. The Knicks have a bit of an odd bet as bot laner in their first game since they announced they’re going up against Walker.

The Knicks are 6-3 on the road and 9-11 over this season. They can probably hang around in this one, so a cover isn’t out of reach.

Why Nets covered the spread

The Nets enter this position as the clear favorite and should be well positioned to win. New York had a bit of a whirlwind late hour, when they decided to drop Kemba Walker from the rotation. Brooklyn also made rotation changes towards the end of the year, as they removed Blake Griffin from theirs. The Nets don’t have Joe Harris for the next few weeks, so they’ll be one of their best ADCs for this game. Kevin Durant and James Harden will be tasked with carrying the offensive line as usual, and it is a normal task that they do not have to struggle. Brooklyn could easily win and take the lead in this spot, but it’s not the smallest margin.

The Nets are only losing 6-4 at home this season, so they will be looking to improve their home record on Tuesday. The score is 8-11-1 against the odds so far this season.

Predict and select Final Knicks-Nets

Take the Nets to win and pass on Tuesday against the Knicks. It’s going to be a big game on national television, so Durant and Harden are actually going to play. As the two best players on the floor, they should take control of the game and win convincingly against an underpowered Knicks team. This is a bit adversarial, so it may get hot and go into the wire, but the Nets should be able to pull out at some point.

FINAL NETWORK PROJECT & PICK: Nets -7 (-106)

Pelicans, Jonas Valanciunas, Dirk Nowitzki
