The Deep Dive: NBA DFS Picks & Ultimate Team Strategy

Guard

Dejounte Murray ($9,200 DraftKings / $9,700 FanDuel) face the Sun in a game that will likely be a surprisingly fast-paced one. Spurs are fifth in pace so far this season while Phoenix play fourth in speed. Murray is having a stellar season, averaging 1.29 DraftKings points per minute with 24.8% utilization rate, 12.2% bounce rate, and 32.4% assist rate.

Tyrese Maxey ($7,400 DraftKings / $8,100 FanDuel) is getting expensive, but he will most likely play without Tobias Harris outside Joel Embiid. Maxey is likely to play another 36 minutes tonight against Sacramento and he has averaged 1.05 DraftKings points per minute in 199 minutes without Harris or Embiid on the floor this season.

Malcolm Brogdon ($7,300 DraftKings / $8,000 FanDuel) hasn’t been produced at a high level since Caris LeVert has returned to the typical squad, but his wages are falling as a result. Still, Brogdon remains a strong fantasy maker in the games LeVert has played, with 1.06 DraftKings points per minute and 24.1% usage rate.

Jalen suggested ($5,000 DraftKings / $6,000 FanDuel) played 25.4 minutes in Saturday’s big loss to Milwaukee with Cole Anthony sidelined and he will play again without Anthony tonight. There’s definitely a risk of losing again, and he’s more expensive than he was in the previous game, but he delivers huge profits without Anthony on the floor. Proposal is second on the team behind Anthony with 25.9% usage rate and 20% assist rate this season. In 209 minutes without Anthony on the floor, Suggs had 26.7 percent utilization and 22.2 percent assists.

Seth curry ($4,900 DraftKings / $5,300 FanDuel) is likely to see an increase in usage as Harris and Embiid are sidelined as well. He’s played 118 minutes without any of them on the floor this season and has a 23.6% utilization rate and 20.2% assist rate while averaging 1 DraftKings point per minute.

RJ Hampton ($4,200 DraftKings / $5,300 FanDuel) played 28.1 minutes of Orlando’s big loss on Saturday. While we should be a little cautious as he played only about 11 minutes in the first half, Hampton is still highly rated as he has many paths to success. Orlando may choose to give him more minutes in a competitive game if he plays well, or he may have extra minutes at half-time. Gary Harris will also be on the field tonight after playing 24.1 minutes in the last game so Hampton has more minutes anyway. He’s averaged 0.87 DraftKings points per minute in 159 minutes without Anthony on the floor this season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($12,000 DraftKings / $11,700 FanDuel) is expensive but has a lot of value on tonight’s medium. Antetokounmpo is one of the best every minute producers in the league and he is the top predicted player on tonight’s standings by a wide margin. Antetokounmpo has averaged 1.71 DraftKings points per minute this season with a 35.4% utilization rate, 18.8% bounce rate, and 31.2% assist rate. While he has only played five games with Jrue’s Day and Kris Middleton both work, his rate is unaffected as he has 37.8 percent usage, 21.2 percent recovery, and 35.1 percent support in those games.

Anthony Edwards ($7,400 DraftKings / $7,900 FanDuel) averaged 1.09 DraftKings points per minute with a 28.2% usage rate in the 14 games he’s played with D’Angelo Russell this season. Edwards has also averaged 35.8 minutes per game in those games. While we prefer Edwards in the games where Russell is absent, he’s still undervalued when Russell is active.

Josh Giddey ($6,000 DraftKings / $6,000 FanDuel) face an Atlanta team that has struggled defensively this season. Hawks ranked 27NS in defensive rating and they are 17NS at speed. Giddey is valuable because he has small-forward qualifying on DraftKings and shooting guard eligibility on FanDuel even though he’s a points guard. He leads the Thunder with 31.1% assist rate this season and averages 1.02 DraftKings points per minute. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander same question tonight. In 114 minutes without Gilgeous-Alexander in the ring, Giddey’s assist rate was 37.1% and he generated 1.08 DraftKings points per minute.

Wendell Carter, Jr. ($5,700 DraftKings / $5,800 FanDuel) was a volatile pick as his game time was inconsistent due to fouls and, at times, lost end minutes for Mo Bamba. However, his salary is somewhat limited, and he can play an extra 30 minutes. Carter has averaged 1.09 DraftKings points per minute overall this season and 1.13 DraftKings points per minute for 91 minutes without Anthony on the floor.

Josh Hart ($5,500 DraftKings / $5,300 FanDuel) disappointed for a large percentage on the field in his final game, but he remains a strong value pick tonight against Minnesota. Hart is likely to play an extra 34 minutes if the match is competitive and he has averaged 0.94 DraftKings points per minute in the seven games he has played with. Brandon Ingram this season.

Kyle Anderson ($4,400 DraftKings / $5,000 FanDuel) starts instead Dillon Brooks in Memphis’s final game and Brooks is in doubt again tonight. De’Anthony Melton is also over, so there will be plenty of minutes for Anderson. Anderson only played the first 20.2 minutes of the game, but it was a match where Memphis lost 43 points. There is a danger of shooting again tonight but, if the game is competitive, we can expect Anderson to approach 30 minutes as he played 15 minutes in the first half against Minnesota.

Georges Niang ($4,200 DraftKings / $4,800 FanDuel) started Philadelphia’s final game and played 34.8 minutes against Portland. Tobias Harris’s absence makes his playing time safer and also opens up the possibility of additional uses in the range. Niang has averaged 0.91 DraftKings points per minute with a 20.8% utilization rate in 265 minutes without Embiid or Harris on the floor this season.

Franz Wagner ($4,100 DraftKings / $5,100 FanDuel) is another clearly undervalued Orlando option, especially on DraftKings, if they can keep tonight’s game competitive. Wagner has averaged 0.79 DraftKings points per minute this season and is likely to exceed 30 minutes if the game closes in the fourth half.

Lonnie Walker ($3,900 DraftKings / $4,500 FanDuel) potentially increased playtime with Doug McDermott on the sidelines tonight against the Sun. Walker has averaged 22.9 minutes per game in 12 games with McDermott this season compared with 24.5 minutes per game in three games with McDermott sidelined. Walker has averaged 0.90 DraftKings points per minute with an overall 22.7% usage rate this season.

Chuma Okeke ($3,400 DraftKings / $4,000 FanDuel) is currently predicted to be one of the more stealthy picks from Orlando with just 5% ownership on DraftKings and 2% ownership on FanDuel. Okeke played 24 minutes against Milwaukee on Saturday and he didn’t benefit from free time, so we can be confident in his minutes even if the game is competitive. Okeke has averaged 0.74 DraftKings points per minute this season and he is capable of playing multiple positions so it should be easy for Orlando to keep him on the floor if he plays well.

DeAndre ‘Bembry ($3,100 DraftKings / $3,700 FanDuel) likely to start on Bruce Brown tonight for Brooklyn. Bembry looked like one of the most valuable players at the start of the day, but his relative value has dropped as players on other teams have been eliminated. He’s averaged 0.65 DraftKings points per minute this season and could exceed 30 minutes tonight, so he still predicts a strong point-per-dollar value even as the likelihood increases. his score is limited when playing with Kevin Durant and James Harden.

The town of Karl-Anthony ($9,500 DraftKings / $9,900 FanDuel) is a fair price for his tonight’s game against a lousy Pelicans team. Towns can be hard to believe as he has to share the ball with Russell and Edwards, but he still provides a big ceiling. He has averaged 1.32 DraftKings points per minute and 34.9 minutes per game in the 14 games he has played with Russell this season.

Jonas Valanciunas ($8,900 DraftKings / $8,000 FanDuel) was a bit less productive when Ingram was active, but he still averaged 1.25 DraftKings points per minute in the games they played together. He is likely to play another 34 minutes tonight against Towns and the Timberwolves if the Pelicans can keep the game tight.

Rudy Gobert ($8,300 DraftKings / $8,300 FanDuel) has averaged about 1.30 DraftKings points per minute this season and he is likely to play about 32 or 33 minutes tonight against Memphis. He leads the league with 22.3 recovery chances per game and he’s tied to Clint Capela led the league with a total of 14 rebounds per game.

Andre Drummond ($7,800 DraftKings / $7,400 FanDuel) is a compelling GPP pick with Harris not supposed to play. Drummond is averaging just 25 minutes per game in the games he started with Harris compared to 35 minutes per game in games where Harris has joined Embiid. There’s no guarantee that Drummond will increase game time tonight, but Harris’s absence makes the possibility of the Sixers closing in with a small roster less likely. Drummond has averaged 1.36 DraftKings points per minute in 223 minutes without Harris or Embiid on the floor this season, and he is projected to have virtually no ownership in the DraftKings or FanDuel tournaments.

Deanre Ayton ($7,100 DraftKings / $7,700 FanDuel) has averaged 1.18 DraftKings points per minute this season and faced the Spurs in a fast-paced game. Since returning from injury, Ayton has played 33, 36, 29 and 26 minutes. However, the most recent game was a loss and we can expect another 30 minutes from Ayton tonight.
