A California sheriff’s office has released a mugshot of the businessman Paul F Pelosi, Sr.the husband of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif. 12).

Mr. Pelosi, 82, was arrested in Napa County, California late on the night of May 28 for suspected drunk driving, according to online records available at the time. The charges against him included one count each of drink driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher.

Online records show that Mr Pelosi was arrested at 11:44pm on Saturday May 28 and taken to jail at 4:13am on Sunday. Bail was set at $5,000.

“The spokeswoman will not comment on this private matter that occurred while she was on the east coast,” spokesman Pelosis’ office said, according to one Associated Press Report.

Nancy Pelosi was scheduled to give an inaugural address at Brown University the day after the arrest; She was reportedly not with her husband when the arrest took place.

San Francisco TV station KRON reported that the arrest followed “a minor car accident.”

Citing a press release from the California Highway Patrol, KRON said Mr. Pelosi’s car was “hit by a jeep in an uninjured collision.” This collision reportedly occurred at or near the intersection of State Route 29 and Walnut Lane in Oakville. Mr Pelosi was reportedly driving a 2021 Porsche, and the other driver, Jesus V Lopez, 48, of Calistoga, drove a 2014 Jeep. Officers reportedly arrived at the scene at 10:26 p.m

It is not clear from the KRON reports who could be to blame.

District Attorney of Napa County Allison Haley announced on June 9 that its office is “currently reviewing charges arising out of the arrest of Paul Pelosi for drunk driving.”

The prosecutor’s statement, posted to Facebook, continued:

[T]The California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrested Mr. Pelosi (born 4/15/40) for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher. He was committed to the Napa County Department of Corrections and released in court.

Mr. Pelosi agreed to a court date on August 3, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. in Napa County Superior Court. If criminal charges are filed, Mr. Pelosi would be charged at that point. The case is currently under review to decide what charges will be brought against Mr Pelosi. This is standard protocol for any DUI case referred by a Napa County law enforcement agency.

At this point, no decision has been made. Any speculation to the contrary is wrong. If the Napa County District Attorney makes a decision on the filing, the media and the public will be notified.

The statement may have been in response to a tweet by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo. 3), who falsely claimed on June 8 that the case against Mr. Pelosi had been “dropped.”

FOX News reported June 10 that the California Highway Patrol has so far refused to release body camera video of the incident because it could “compromise” the investigation.

“The Public Records Division (PRU) has determined that the Department holds records at your request,” the CHP wrote of its own public records request, according to FOX’s report. “However, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office has cautioned that releasing recordings would jeopardize an ongoing investigation. Therefore, records are withheld pursuant to Section 6254(f) of the Government Code.”

That denial led to a skewer from FOX opinion leaders, who demanded to see the entire incident, including all footage of Mr. Pelosi in a so-called “drunk tank” jail cell.
