MMOs you’ve never heard of: Swordsman X Survival, Legend of Lunia and X8

Swordsman X Survival – A year ago, Yooreka Studio and CubeGame announced a reboot of the Swordsman franchise in the form of Swordsman X: Survival, a “martial arts open world adventure game combining survival and crafting”. It looked amazing and we even got a few dev blogs about the game’s combat, biomes and weapons. At the time, the game was pushed back to 2022 after spring testing. We’re now pushing into 2023, so where’s the game?

The game’s Discord has a few replies, although unfortunately I can’t recommend going there (as of this writing, the last few messages – from a week ago – are super gross, so the channel is clearly not moderated well). But the short version from around the new year says that the developers made an announcement to the Chinese fanbase, translated into English by players, and the plan is to do the “final technical stress test” in March 2023, with an early access in April further Steam, Wegame and Cube.

Legend of Luna – Here’s an MMO I’d never heard of before I spied a reference to it on Reddit. Apparently it’s a lobby MMORPG that’s long gone and has now been resurrected as a mobile game in South Korea by Valofe, a company we all know very well here since they’ve become the western manager Bless Unleashed, Continent of the Ninth Seal, Mu Legend, Atlantic Online, CronousAnd Rider of Icarus, some of them even stuffed with NFT garbage. The website is entirely in Korean, but apparently if you can get over that and get to grips with the mobile jank, it will take a certain amount of effort.

X8 – This is for all virtual reality fans. It’s a pure VR multiplayer team shooter where players compete against each other, all in a game-in-game simulation. On Thirdverse’s Steam page, this is slated for a summer launch, which may actually happen when the game wraps up its closed beta in late January.
