MLB insider reveals Mets trying to sign Max Scherzer

The New York Mets are very interested in signing Max Scherzer in his free agency this winter.
One MLB insiders share New York Mets are trying their best to sign right-handed starter Max Scherzer in his freelance agency.
Jon Heyman of the MLB Network reports the Mets are determined to add a frontline starter to their rotation this season. They are said to have prioritized Scherzer, Kevin Gausman and Robbie Ray, in that order. While incumbent right-handed Marcus Stroman is still in the mix to return to some extent, the Mets have told what their preferences are for this season cycle.
With Scherzer prioritizing victory above all else, will the right-hand man go to New York?

Scherzer may have won the World Series with the 2019 Washington Nationals, but it shouldn’t be much of a stretch to get back into the Fall Classic and win. While he was traded from Country to Los Angeles Dodgers on the deadline, Scherzer and Boys in Blue were unable to win the NL Pennant in contiguous seasons. They fell six to the Atlanta Braves.
While one could argue the Mets are one of the good reasons to return to contention, it doesn’t look like the Braves or Philadelphia Phillies are dying any time soon. The path to post-season must be through winning one’s division. Although the Mets led the NL East throughout the summer, they fell through the period and missed the post-season.
While chatting about money, it’s hard to see Scherzer care as much about the Mets as they do him.
