Missouri State Prediction vs. Oklahoma and Odds for the NIT Opening Round

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. That’s right, NIT starts today!

While it may not be the March Madness we’re all familiar with, there’s still plenty of money to be made to bet on NIT. We had a great first game when the Oklahoma Sooners 1 18-15 played the Missouri State Bears 8 on October 23 at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The Bears lost to Drake by one goal in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament to end their NCAA Tournament dream and have been in a bit of a shambles lately, losing just 1-5 by odds (ATS) in six their last match. The Sooners, meanwhile, beat Baylor before losing to Texas Tech one in the Big 12 Conference Semifinals.

Oklahoma has covered for five straight games to close out the season – will they be able to continue against a shabby Bear team or will Missouri State show they belong in the top dogs?

Oklahoma is a solid team with a fatal flaw. They attacked well and defended excellently but could not defend the ball. Sooners ranks 2nd nationally in terms of revenue, accounting for more than 22% of their assets.

But they’re in luck, as Missouri State are terrible at generating the first leg, ranking 309th in defensive percentage for the season. They are a great counter-attacking defensive team but their strength is their offensive ability. The bears are in the 93rd percentile for effective on-field target ratio due to their elite internal attack. They want to score inside and have four players averaging more than 25 minutes per game while shooting 50% longer.

Unfortunately for Oklahoma, internal defense is not their strong point. The Sooners are 206th in two-point goal ratio – they’re weak exactly where Missouri State wants to attack.

This line is an overreaction to the Sooners’ strong Big-12 tournament record. They were desperate to be in the NCAA Tournament and I look forward to an emotional match after almost missing it. Oklahoma is 3-5 ATS in their last eight as a favorite and the Bears should keep this ratio tight.

I will continue to play. Given the Bears’ inner scoring and fearsome defense, we should see some points. Their defensive resilience means they’ll be able to pick up the pace, and Oklahoma will have no problem forging their own open-minded views. Give me a pass to improve to 7-1 in the last eight Missouri State competitions.
