‘Minx’, ‘La Brea’ en route to Paramount+ unveiled UK, Ireland

Paramount+ has unveiled a series of exclusive UK and Ireland acquisitions including Keshet’s “La Brea” from NBCUniversal Global Distribution and “Minx” starring Jake Johnson and Ophelia Lovibond.
“La Brea” is a survival thriller about citizens struggling to survive after being sucked into a mysterious land through a hole in Los Angeles, while “Minx” tells the story of a young feminist and low-cost publisher who set out to create a Erotic magazine for women in the 1970s.
Minx was acquired by Lionsgate alongside Topher Grace’s Home Economics, about the relationship between three adult siblings and Son of a Critch, based on the memoir by This Hour Has Twenty-Two Minutes host Mark Critch.
The shows will debut on the streamer in August.
Also acquired by NBCUniversal Global Distribution, The Thing About Pam, starring Renée Zellweger, Josh Duhamel and Judy Greer, was released on Paramount+ last month. The story is based on the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria.
Meanwhile, the streamer also released Sony Pictures Television’s “Chapelwaite,” starring Adrien Brody, based on the Stephen King short story “Jerusalem’s Lot,” and the series “Savage River” (starring Katherine Langford in “13 Reasons Why”) purchased from Dynamic Television. Langford stars as a young woman determined to prove her innocence after her small rural town is rocked by a shocking murder.
“We are working hard to make Paramount+ the exclusive home of premium content from around the world,” said Anna-Belen Dunlop, senior director of acquisitions at Paramount UK, in a statement. “Paramount+ already brings together the biggest names in entertainment, but we will continue to expand our offering to make the service absolutely compelling for audiences.”
