Miley Cyrus drops breakup song on ex Liam Hemsworth’s birthday

Miley Cyrus has teased her new breakup single Flower, which is due out on ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s birthday.

Cyrus, 30, recently shared a snippet of the new video on Instagram.

Cyrus can be heard over the footage: “I can love myself better than you, I can love myself better baby.”

Cyrus and Australian actor Liam Hemsworth wed in 2018 but split just eight months later.

“New Year, New Miley,” the video post was captioned, with the release date of 01/13/2023 — which happens to be Hemsworth’s 33rd birthday.

Some of Cyrus’ 200 million Instagram followers quickly made a connection between the song’s lyrics and the release date.

“The Era of the Goddess after healing the trauma. Damn yes,” one person wrote.

“Kill you posting this song on his birthday,” said another.

“The fact that the song comes out on Liam’s birthday,” wrote a third, adding three trophy emojis.

However, some followers were not impressed.

“You say you’re over the breakup and divorce, but then you do?” one person asked.

“Just confused and it seems like you’re not over him yet.”

“That’s great but why on Liam’s birthday when he’s already moved on?” asked another.

Although Cyrus and Hemsworth’s marriage lasted less than a year, the couple had an on-going relationship for more than a decade.

They met on the set of the 2009 film The Last Song and reportedly had a tumultuous relationship.

Cyrus went on to briefly date Australian singer and swimmer Cody Simpson. She is currently in a relationship with musician Maxx Morando.

Hemsworth has been dating model Gabriella Brooks for three years.

Speaking to Howard Stern in 2020, Cyrus said there had been a lot of “conflicts” in her relationship with Hemsworth, but she would “always” love him.

“I really do and loved him very, very, very much and still will,” she said.
