Mid-time performance does not let the NFL ‘deviate’

Ana Navarro praised the Super Bowl halftime performance but said Sunday’s NFL rap celebration in Los Angeles could not condone the league’s lack of a black head coach.

Sunday, much of the country followed the rappers Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cents and Kendrick Lamar performances on stage with singer R&B Mary J. Blige.

The roughly 14-minute performance is hailed as one of the best in years, and celebrated as a blast from the past from one of hip-hop’s golden eras.

The union’s acceptance of Black culture, however, cannot condone the federation for failing to offer head coaching positions to black candidates, according to Navarro.

Above See on Monday, she commented on the show midway through, calling it “awesome”:

I think, just when you think you’ve seen it, someone else will show up on that rooftop. Let me tell you, I was a little nervous when I saw 50 people hanged, you know, rafters… I was like, ‘Oh my God, he’s upside down, he’s singing upside down, I hope he holds up!’ I think it’s wonderful. Snoop Dog is great. The whole thing is great.

Navarro later criticized the league for its lack of a minority head coach.

“However, I’d say, celebrating as it was, great as it was, I think it’s important not to let the NFL get out of tune and not distract from the conversation,” she said. on racial equity in hiring managers and hiring coaches. ”

Asked to explain, Navarro invoked a lawsuit against the NFL from the Miami Dolphins head coach who just got fired Brian Floreswho is black:

Brian Flores. I think Brian Flores opened a can of worms that shouldn’t – this is great, and this is a celebration of hip-hop, and all these great black artists, plus Eminem, did get their thing, and we should applaud the NFL for doing it.

Navarro concluded, “But you know what? You have to hire some trainer. “
