A Michigan insider is promoting the idea of Jim Harbaugh leaving the Wolverines for the NFL following multiple reports.
Is Jim Harbaugh Returning to the NFL?
At this point, no one really knows and the reports don’t make the problem any clearer.
Michigan insider John Bacon objected to Adam Schefter and Bruce Feldman’s reporting that Harbaugh was interested in going back to the experts.
Michigan Insider John Bacon Still Hasn’t Bought Rumor Jim Harbaugh-NFL
“Yes, I’ve heard rumors about @CoachJim4UM going to the NFL, but I’ve heard those 100X before and they never had anything to do with anything. Doesn’t mean they can’t this time – never say never in CFB – but I haven’t heard anything concrete to convince me that any change is imminent. FWIW, “bacon” tweeted.
Bacon is added more in a next tweet credits Schefter and Feldman for the professionalism but also alludes to this possibly relating to negotiations between Harbaugh and Michigan.
“My opinion: both @AdamSchefter and @BruceFeldmanCFB are serious journalists. Confident that no one has made up anything, but haven’t heard enough at this stage to conclude any changes are imminent. Follow UM offers, including possible NIL program. Can end gossip quickly,” Bacon wrote.
Harbaugh just finished his seventh season with Werewolves but his job security coming out in 2020 is in doubt. He went 2-4 in the pandemic shortened season.
Michigan backed him up with a contract extension near the beginning of 2021 but it included a pay cut and the obvious mandate to show progress in 2021.
He did exactly that by winning the Big Ten for the first time and sending Michigan into the knockout stages.
Now, the Wolverines may need to make a sweet tooth to ensure Harbaugh stays, whether it involves his personal salary, the money available to hire assistants and staff, or additional investment in the football program. .
