Michigan fans leave Orange Bowl early after being blown away by Georgia

When the Georgia Bulldogs extended their lead in the second half of the Orange Bowl, many Michigan Wolverines fans left Hard Rock Stadium.

The honeymoon for the Michigan Wolverines is over. They beat their obnoxious rivals in the Ohio State Buckeyes and won the Big Ten championship by knocking out the Iowa Hawkeyes for a spot in the College Rugby Round. Then the Orange Bowl began, where they were defeated by the Georgia Bulldogs.

When Georgia took a 34-3 lead in the fourth inning, many of the Michigan fans present at Hard Rock Stadium decided to beat the traffic.

Things got tough for the Wolverines, as they finished 27-3 at halftime. That was due to two touchdown passes from Bulldogs midfielder Stetson Bennett and a throw-in from Kenny McIntosh to Adonai Mitchell in the late zone. That score remained intact… until the fourth quarter.

After forcing Michigan to turn the ball over, Bennett ran back to James Cook for a 39-yard touchdown pass.

To be fair, Michigan brought a lot of momentum into the Orange Bowl. But, Georgia has been at number 1 nationally for most of the 2021 season for a reason. The Wolverines learned that firsthand.
