After weeks of speculation, Miami fired head coach Manny Diaz on Monday after three years in the job.

This decision comes after numerous reports indicate that the school is making an important offer to attract Oregon Coach Mario Cristobal returned to Miami, where he played and worked as an assistant coach under Larry Coker.

Cristobal notified Oregon Monday morning that he is leaving for work in Miami. The Hurricanes announced his hire on Monday afternoon.

Oregon has offered a contract extension to Cristobal, who has led the Ducks to a 35-13 record in parts of five seasons, including this year’s 10-3 performance.
