Metal Slug Tactics delayed, coming in 2023

Dotemu will not be published Metal Slug Tactics this year at least the publisher was announced on Thursday morning via Twitter. Instead, the tactical game will launch sometime in 2023 to make it “as explosive as possible.”

Originally unveiled during last year’s Summer Games Fest, Metal Slug Tactics brings the cartoon sidescroller to the XCOM-like world of strategy games for the first time. Players control a crew of characters – Marco, Eri, Fio and Tarma – on their mission to take out soldiers and blow up tanks. More than just a regular tactics game, Leikir Studio says the game will feature “roguelike elements,” though it’s currently unclear how.

Tactics fans have seen many delays in 2022. Take Two announced Marvel’s Midnight Sun‘ delay on Monday afternoon and did not offer a new release date. And both of these delays this week come after Nintendo removed the planned release date for Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp this spring due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. None of these games currently have a concrete release date.
