Men’s tennis introduces spring schedule

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma Men’s Tennis Head Coach Nick Crowell and Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the springtime schedule of Sooners 2022 on Monday.
The Sooners are expected to compete in 24 matches, holding 14 at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. Thirteen of the Sooners’ games featured teams that finished the season in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
“We’re excited to start mid-January with this team,” Crowell said. “We have a great home schedule with 14 games and three of our five Big 12 games are at home.”
The OU will start the spring season at home, playing a brace against Incarnate Word and Bryant on January 15 and Purdue on January 17. The Sooners will continue to play at home, hosting Abilene Christian on January 22nd and Nebraska on 23rd.
The team will hit the road for the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Oxford, Miss., January 29-30. 4th seed OU will face top seed Ole Miss in the first round, while 2nd seed Illinois faces off with three NC State seeds. The winners of those matches will face off against each other on January 30 with a trip to the ITA National Men’s Team Championships on the rope. Indoor Nationals will take place in Seattle, Wash., February 18-20.
The Sooners will return home to face Wichita State on February 4 and Arkansas on February 6. The team will limit the return weekend to home against Alabama on February 11 and Drake on February 10. February 13.
The OU organization will continue on February 25 and 27, hosting Texas A&M and Baylor respectively.
The Sooners will then set off to face Arizona and Arizona State. The team will play against Arizona on March 4 in Tucson, Ariz., then on to Tempe, Ariz., to play against Arizona State on March 6.
OU will return to Sooner State to face Tulsa in Tulsa on March 13 before setting off to face Texas in Austin on March 26.
The Sooners will host state rivals Oklahoma State on April 1, kicking off the Big 12.
The team will travel to Texas to face Texas Tech in Lubbock on April 8 and Baylor in Waco on April 10.
The Sooners will close their homes on April 14 and 16, hosting Texas and TCU, respectively.
The Big 12 Championship will take place April 21-24 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The NCAA Regions are set to run from May 6 to 8, with the winners advancing to the Super Regions May 13-14. The NCAA Championships will run from May 18 to 28. 5. Venues for all three events will be announced later.
“We are delighted to be back at full capacity and we hope to return with energetic crowds this year,” Crowell said. “We encourage everyone to come out and support this hungry group of people.”
