Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has addressed the “incredibly said” series of events that led to her falling out with her father.
In her new Netflix dish, Harry & Meghan, the Duchess said she was unaware that her father, Thomas Markle, was collaborating with the media ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.

She said she wasn’t aware that her father was selling staged pictures of himself to tabloids until a week after the wedding.
Some of these ‘setup’ pictures showed him working out to get in shape and sitting in a cafe reading a book about Britain.
“This is the first time I’ve heard of it,” she said, adding that her communications officer encouraged her to call Thomas to “find out if it’s true or not because it could be really harmful.”
She called her father, who lived in Mexico, and said, “Look, they say you’re taking money from the tabloids for staged photos — is that true?
“He said no.”
“And on that call, I said, look, if they can’t stop this story, it’s going to come out tomorrow.”
The mother-of-two said she offered to get her father out of Mexico, believing there would be media hype about him once news of the staged photos broke.
“I do not believe him”
According to Meghan, he said, “No, no, I have things I need to do.”
“It felt really scary,” she said of his reaction, “I thought it didn’t make any sense. And when we hung up, I looked at H and said, ‘I don’t know why, but I don’t believe him’.”
Meghan’s mother and Thomas’ ex-wife, Doria Ragland, said in an interview that she was “absolutely stunned that Tom would be part of this circus… that he would benefit from it, certainly as a parent that’s not what you do.”
Meghan went on to recall the “unraveling” that happened days after their wedding.
“He didn’t take my call and spoke to TMZ instead,” she told the US tabloid.
The Duchess said she learned through the tabloids that Thomas would not be attending her wedding to Harry in Windsor.
During these reports, new stories surfaced that Thomas had suffered a heart attack, fueling Meghan’s need to connect with her father.
“What’s the matter,” she said.

“Please pick up the phone, we’re not mad, but please pick up the phone.
“The world is watching as this drama unfolds.”
Instead of answering the phone, text messages were sent from Thomas’ phone.
“Someone texted back on their phone, it was really weird – you know how people spell, my dad used a lot of emojis and ellipses and it was the exact opposite.
“That’s not my father”
“And it called me Meghan, I was like he hadn’t called me Meghan any day that I’ve lived on this planet. Great!
“All my friends call me Meg and my parents call me Meg and I was like, ‘This isn’t my dad.'”
Meghan claimed her father’s phone was “compromised” as a result of the text message she received.
“We were like, ‘Stop it, we need to know it was you,'” she added.
Weighing in on the heartbreaking incident, Harry said: “It’s incredibly sad what happened.
“She had a father before and now she doesn’t have a father and I took that upon myself.
“If Meg wasn’t with me, her father would still be her father.”
