Jurors convicted a Virginia woman Monday of killing her mother and sister and then staging the scene to look like a murder-suicide.

Defendant Hargan was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of using a firearm. Prosecutors said she killed her mother Pamela and sister Helen on July 14, 2017 after Pamela failed to give her $400,000 to buy her home. Megan is also accused of believing that her mother favored her sister over her.
“We in Fairfax County have zero tolerance for such disregard for human life and I am committed to addressing crimes of this magnitude with the severity they deserve,” said Commonwealth Attorney. Fairfax County Commonwealth Steve Descano. “We will ask either a substantial sentence that reflects the seriousness of the crime.”
The jurors then on Monday recommended life in prison.

Gutierrez said that he was eventually unable to contact Helen anymore. Prosecutors said Megan shot and killed her sister. Gutierrez said he received strange messages from Helen’s phone, but he believes Megan sent them impersonating Helen.
