Mega Man Battle & Fighters is coming to Nintendo Switch

Capcom and SNK are apparently in a race to see who can be the first to release all of their classic games on modern platforms. Which has led to some great stuff, even if it gets a bit silly at times.

In Thursday’s release, SNK announced that the 2000 game Neo-Geo Pocket Color is only available in Japan Rockman Battle & Fighters is now available on Switch – under the name Mega Man Battle & Fighter in the West, though still in Japanese. It’s a port of two arcade games made by Capcom in the mid ’90s (Mega Man: The Power Struggle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, both of which added versus fighting gameplay elements to the Mega Man formula) scaled down to fit on the wearable hardware. The pack dated from when SNK was building its Neo Geo Pocket Color roster by signing licenses like Pac-Man and Sonic the Hedgehog, but it came too late to make much of an impact in SNK’s battle against the Game Boy achieve.

Where this all gets a bit of dog poo is that Capcom just released the arcade versions of Mega Man: The Power Struggle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters on Switch a few weeks ago as part of his Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium collection. Conveniently, each of these costs about four dollars, and SNK’s duo costs about eight.

Whether you want to play two obscure Mega Man arcade games, or the portable versions of these two in Japanese and scaled down to the Neo Geo Pocket Color screen (and then back to the Switch screen), all are great if you have them keep an eye on – Capcom and SNK are here for you.
