Meet Tyson Oblad, go to 40 football games for his 40th – The Athletic

On Tuesday night, Tyson Oblad was due to arrive at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich., in time to enjoy the pregnancy festivities and the first half or so of Western Michigan’s 7 p.m. game against Akron. He will then return to his car and drive about 100 miles to Ypsilanti in the second half of the 8 p.m. Eastern Michigan game against Ohio.

Wednesday night, he will be at Bowling Green for Game I-75 against Toledo. It will then head to Pittsburgh for Thursday night’s ACC clash between Pitt and North Carolina, followed by a Friday morning flight to Tampa to catch Cincinnati at USF.

And on Saturday, he’ll try to attend three different college games in Texas – Southern Miss at UTSA, Georgia Southern at Texas State and Kansas at Texas.

Oblad is not a fan of any of these schools. His team is BYU. But he is a college football addict who is celebrating his 40th birthday by attending 40 football games throughout the 2021 season – his personal project “40 for 40” . As of this writing, he is only halfway through, having attended 18 universities and five NFL Game.

Oblad was in Champaign, Ill., for Week 0 Game Nebraska-Illinois. He got to see his alma mater end a nine-game losing streak against rival Utah. He was in the stands when the Oklahoma students began chanting “We want Caleb!” Meet Tyson Oblad, go to 40 football games for his 40th – The Athletic
