Mediawan Rights Bows Light Entertainment Sales Division

Mediawan Rights, the commercial arm of the European media company, will expand its scope with the launch of a light entertainment distribution division. Estelle Bodén, an industry veteran, has been appointed Sales Director for this newly created entity.

Reporting to Valérie Vleeschhouwer, Managing Director of Mediawan Rights, Bodén will be responsible for developing and structuring this new initiative.

The executive has 25 years of experience and previously worked at Strix Television, the team behind hit reality TV shows like The Farm and The Bar. In 2004, Bodén co-founded Friday TV, whose portfolio included factual formats around the world, most notably Clash of the Choirs, Single Moms, and Minute to Win It, which aired on NBC in the US and more than 50 spectators reached areas. She also co-founded Swedish company Elk Entertainment, which was acquired by ITV Studios in 2017.

Under the leadership of Vleeschhouwer, Mediawan Rights handles the sales of a wide range of programmes, from feature films to documentaries and youth shows. These titles are either third party acquisitions or series produced by Banners owned by Mediawan, the company founded in 2015 by Pierre-Antoine Capton, Xavier Niel and Matthieu Pigasse.

“I am very pleased to welcome Estelle to Mediawan Rights. Their expertise represents an undeniable asset in the creation of this industry and the strategic development of this activity,” said Vleeschhouwer, who also built Mediawan Right’s roster of world-class documentaries through acquisitions and partnerships.

Bodén said she “looks forward to leading this new department and building synergies with other members of the Mediawan Rights team, as well as forging links with third-party producers.”
