Mayor Scott, Volunteer 50K Pack COVID-19 Tests, 40K Masks for Baltimore City Schools – CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and several volunteers from his administration spent part of Martin Luther King Jr Day. to pack tens of thousands of COVID-19 tests and masks for schools in the city.

On Monday morning, 50,000 tests and more than 40,000 masks were packed by Scott and his team for distribution to schools in the city on Tuesday, the mayor tweeted.

Mayor announced earlier this month The city will distribute 100,000 tests and 80,000 masks to schools. Monday’s bundled devices represent half of that allocation.

Scott confirmed the school system’s plan for in-person attendance in early January, said that virtual classrooms had led to academic decline, affected students’ mental health and deepened educational inequalities.
