Mavericks vs. Nets Predictions and Odds (Strong Dallas bet to lock Kevin Durant on the road)

It’s a pity we won’t get to see an encore performance from Kyrie Irving tonight after his 60-point performance against the Orlando Magic. But this game is at home, and the unvaccinated Irving will be riding the pine tree again.

Either way, the only points Irving will earn tonight are on his credit card. Brooklyn could really use him too as the Mavericks are one of the hotter teams in the NBA right now with a 12-3 record in their last 15 games. The Brooklyn Nets injury report also lists Seth Curry and Cam Thomas as questionable for tonight. Here are the odds for this hump day battle, courtesy of WynnBET:

Without two of their best players on the field, can the Nets make it past a booming Mavericks team tonight? I’m not so sure and feel it will be a disappointment after last night’s epic win. The Mavericks are leading 6-1 so far this month and 6-0-1 by margin in their last seven road games. Those victories also did not come to the dominant teams.

The Mavs have won against the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, and Boston Celtics in that span.

Basically, the question here is whether Durant can beat the Mavs. It’s possible Brooklyn won’t have a second, third or even fourth leading scorer behind Durant and I’m not sure where those extra points will come from.

I think Durant doesn’t want Irving to beat him and will try to come out tonight. He must have been well-rested after just doing nine pictures last night. But he doesn’t have the supporting cast to lead the Nets to victory here. The Mavericks’ defense is just too good and they’re the kind of team that can give Durant a real headache. The Nets just have too much going against them to believe in tonight.
