NFL fan gets money back for Tom Brady’s ‘last’ touchdown ball
Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic is expected to miss the first game due to a calf strain in the regular season.
Dallas Mavericks Luka Doncic is expected to miss Game 1 of Saturday’s first-round game against the Utah Jazz. The all-star point guard suffered a calf strain in the last game of the regular season and the status of his full recovery is unknown.
Doncic sustained the injury in the final game of the regular season against the San Antonio Spurs when Doncic mislanded a pass attempt.
Below is how the injury happened.
Luka Doncic injury update
The injury definitely hurts the Maverick’s ability to maintain the lead the team has in this series after the team captured home field advantage in the postseason for the first time since 2011, according to CBS.
Doncic’s health will be a story by the day as the guard is a key component to the Maverick’s success in the playoffs. The Mavericks will have to rely on Spencer Dinwiddie or Jalen Brunson to fill in the Star Guard’s footsteps. Although both players can deliver for the Mavericks, the team will lack what Doncic brings to the ground in terms of his attacking playstyle.
Dinwiddie was one of the most improved and key players for the team this season after being traded from the Washington Wizards that season. Dinwiddie put on 13.7 PPG, 4.2 RPG and 5.2 APG with 40 percent from afar.
Brunson has also featured for the Mavericks this season, posting a career-high 16.3 points and 4.8 assists. Brunson can shoot over 50 percent from the field and pairing him with Dinwiddie would be the best alternative for the Mavericks if Doncic is out.
The Mavericks are skeptical about Doncic’s return and will have to brace for the worst if he is to miss the rest of the postseason. The schedule for Doncic’s return is unknown and is being closely monitored.
