Maury Povich’s gig ends after more than 30 years – CBS Baltimore

(CNN) – “Maury” will end after 31 seasons.
The popular daytime talk show is coming to an end with the 2021-2022 season, a rep for NBCUniversal confirmed to CNN.

“Six years ago, as I was about to retire, my NBCUniversal family asked me to continue the show,” host Maury Povich said in a statement. “Although I told them I was ready for the assisted life, out of loyalty to NBCUniversal and my 100+ employees and crew members, Tracie Wilson and I agreed to an agreement. more favorable. I’m very proud of my relationship with NBCUniversal and everyone who has worked on “Maury” but from time to time I say to my guests on “Maury,” “Enough!”
The show, famous for its paternity tests and guests with scandalous secrets, is its 24th season with NBCUniversal. Povich is the longest running daytime talk show host in television history.

“Maury and I decided two years ago that this season would be the show’s farewell season, and while his retirement has been bittersweet, we are delighted that he was able to spend so much more time on the golf course,” said Tracie Wilson, chief executive officer. NBCUniversal Syndication Studios vice president said in a statement. “Maury is a TV icon, a pop culture legend and we couldn’t be prouder to be a part of his incredible career.”
While initial production is drawing to a close, according to a network representative, “the show, which features thousands of live-action, entertaining, and dramatic episodes, will continue its daytime success for years to come.”
