Maurice Benard has an emotional reunion with his daughter on ‘Tamron Hall’

The episode started off in the usual fashion, with host Hall asking questions about Benard’s career and life before bringing up his daughter, Heather Andresen. Andresen is the half-sister of Benard’s wife, who the couple adopted when she was 15.

“Oh, don’t do that,” he said as Hall put a picture of his daughter on the screen, tears already in his eyes.

He started telling a story about his daughter before Hall stopped him.

“You’re not the only one who made a special trip today,” Hall began. “She wanted to be here – because I know it was difficult getting on that plane and getting here – your daughter, Airman First Class Heather Andresen.”

Benard and his daughter shared an emotional hug and tears from Benard, who had never seen his daughter in her Air Force uniform.

“These surprises are killing me,” said Benard, turning away to cry.

“You have to look up to see her in uniform for the first time!” Hall encouraged Benard, who covered his eyes.

“I’m so proud of her. I can’t talk so can I walk?” joked Benard.

“When we adopted her … my wife and she were talking about how lucky we were, and at one point she said, ‘Can I call you mom?'” Benard recounts, causing Hall and the audience to cry.

“We just wanted to share this moment because you are a remarkable person…a good soul, a good person,” Hall said.

The “General Hospital” is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and will begin with the return of the nurses’ ball next Monday. Check out a little preview below!
