During Week 10’s “Monday Night Football” game between the Rams and 49ers, Kelley Stafford, wife of Matthew Stafford, was accused of throwing cookies at a trash-talking 49ers fan in the stands. The Rams were blown away by the 49ers, losing 31-10 in San Francisco.
A fan sitting near the 49ers fan took to Instagram to call out Kelly for her actions. Fans commented on Instagram claiming to be Rams fans and were embarrassed by Kelly’s actions. It’s not clear to which account the comments were posted or to which images.
Kelly commented back to the upset Rams fan on Instagram and she confirmed the incident. Here is her full statement back.
“…girl, I know a lot. I’m an idiot. He said a bunch of aggressive things to our crew for no reason. I tried to apologize, but finally know i was wrong Will always stand up for me boy and everyone i love but obviously need to do it completely different i’m embarrassed too sorry you had to witness me in my moment of weakness!”
This isn’t the first Instagram apology Kelly has had to make in the last year. Last November, Kelly apologized for calling Michigan a “dictatorship” during a talk.
According to TMZ who reported the incident, the Santa Clara Police Department was unaware of the incident. In addition, the Rams organization and Matthew’s representative have not yet commented on the incident.
Here are some of Twitter’s reactions to the incident, including plenty of people mocking Matthew’s poor performance on Monday night.
Were the cookies thrown further than any of Goff’s attempts on Sunday?
