Eight days ago, two more plaintiffs were added to Brain Flores’ lawsuit against the NFL. The new allegations came from former Titans coach Mike Mularkey, who admitted he got the job as a result of a sham interview process.

Get to know the press reports, an NBC News production, took a closer look at the situation. The episode features commentary from Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy, former Raiders and Browns coach Hue Jackson, and Bill’s defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

Leslie Frazier who is currently employed by the buffalo bills spoke openly about the issue, which could have a serious impact on his career in the league. “There needs to be a massive change in ownership for this to be rectified. After all, only the owners can change something about it. It’s not the commissioner. . . there are no committees. It’s the decision makers.” said Frazier.

Frazier is 100 percent right about that. The sport is run by billionaires who are used to getting their way, but no longer. There should be a level of tolerance and owners should be kept in check regarding their actions. The league has been awash with controversy, including the owners’ harassment of female staff and the hiring of minority coaching staff.

Perhaps the verdict should go in Brian Flores’ favour, which will draw the owner’s attention. Tony Dungy had an amazing thought that might catch the owner’s attention. “I think players need to hold the league accountable. . . and these African American players walk in and say, “Hey, Mr. Owner, you need to do a thorough search. And you have to give these African American coaches a lot of consideration. . . I’m not telling you who to hire, but if you’re not considering them, I don’t want to play here. . . . That will draw the attention of the owners.” says Dungy.

Something has to be done, and fast. Nothing could persuade the owners to change their orthodox way of thinking about hiring coaches for minorities. Until the owners make a “change of mind”, nothing will change.
