Mars rover Perseverance sets distance record on Red Planet

According to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the self-driving function of the Perseverance rover is working very well on Mars.

The mission, which took place not quite in an Earth year on Mars, has topped a new distance record for Red Planet explorers. On Friday (February 4) Persistence made the longest trip completed in a single Martian day, aka sol, with a journey of 806.3 feet (245.76 metres), the rover’s Twitter feed reported.
