Marriaga Sees Ramirez as a ‘Do or Die’ Chance on Davis-Cruz PPV

Mexico City, Mexico – Three-time world title challenger Miguel “The Scorpion” Marriaga (30-4 26 KO) from Arjona, Colombia is at full speed in training camp as he prepares for the bout. Showtime pay-per-view clash, scheduled for December 5 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, against world-ranked rival Eduardo “Zurdito” Ramirez (25-2-3 12 KOs).

Their fight will be the opening match of the TV show, which will feature Gervonta Davis colliding with Isaac Cruz in a lightweight title fight.

WBO #13 WBC #13 Marriaga is trying to win one more at the world championship in 2022, a feat that is very difficult to achieve in this day and age.

Marriaga has been on a winning streak since April, knocking out Jorge Garcia Jimenez by a sixth round TKO in Mexico City, Mexico.

“We are very happy to be back on the big stage,” said Marriaga. “I know this match is decisive or death for me, you can expect me to give 1000% to this game because I still have goals. Aim to be a world champion.”

Scorpion has been preparing in Mexico City for his bout, where he has spent the past six weeks in a high-altitude camp with fighters of similar style to Ramirez.

He believes Ramirez is one level below his past rivals such as Oscar Valdez, Nicholas Walters and Vasiliy Lomachenko.

“Ramirez didn’t impress me, he was a great challenger but nothing I haven’t seen before,” noted Marriaga “I fought the best nampaw in the world (Lomachenko) and I lost to great champions. I think my experience will help me get through this fight. ”

This bout will be presented by Mayweather and TGB promotions affiliated with All Star Boxing, Inc.
