Mark Stone was drafted 178th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 6th round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. After making his major junior league debut with the Brandon Wheat Kings, he had 39 points with 17 goals and 22 assists in 56 games and finished 12th in the Western Hockey League’s rookie standings. During the 2009 playoffs, he added 4 points from 1 goal and 3 assists in 12 games.

Mark was named to the top 50 candidates for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft for his progress with the puck. In September 2010, he attended NHL training camp. His performance earned him a spot on the WHL East First All-Star Team at the end of the year after 106 points with 37 goals and 71 assists in 71 games. Mark ended his junior career by being named the Brad Hornung Trophy winner after finishing as the WHL’s second-top scorer.

On April 20, 2012, he joined the Ottawa Senators and made his debut with them on April 21 against the New York Rangers. Though his regular-season debut was homegrown on March 6, 2013, against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Mark scored his first NHL goal against the Montreal Canadians’ Carey Price.
