Mariners get a great injury update after streaking past the Yankees

The Seattle Mariners pulled off a big series win over the Yankees, but the best news came in the form of Julio Rodriguez’s latest update.

Whether it was his phenomenal play that put him on track to be American League Rookie of the Year, his electric performance in the home run derby, or the fact that he’s just a joy to watch on the field . Seafarers from Seattle Youngster Julio Rodriguez is becoming one of baseball’s rising stars.

Unfortunately, he just hasn’t been on the field as much since the All-Star hiatus.

Though it’s never been confirmed or denied if it’s related to his Home Run Derby performance, Rodriguez was pulled from the lineup right after the break with some wrist discomfort. He returned for a handful of games but was then hit by a pitch on the same wrist on July 30 and hasn’t been in the Seattle lineup since.

However, that is about to change.

Mariners: Julio Rodriguez on course to return against Rangers on Friday

On Wednesday, the Mariners competed in the series finals against the Yankees to give Seattle a series win and maintain their position as the AL wild card team. But after the win, when manager Scott Servais spoke to the media, he gave a great update on Rodriguez.

The young star’s batting cage session on Wednesday went very well and the manager sees Rodriguez rejoining the team in their series against the Texas Rangers on Friday.

Seattle has stayed pretty much alive in the wild card race and the club has held its current place in the playoffs even with Rodriguez out of the lineup, moving past that span after Wednesday’s win over New York 6-5. However, there’s no denying that the five-tool player that is Rodriguez would make things a lot easier.

His return to the line-up couldn’t have come at a better time. And as baseball fans it will just be good to see him back out there as he is one of the true joys in MLB.
