Marina Rodriguez is an eye-catching fighter

Marina Rodriguez is the fighter to watch this weekend at UFC 272.

UFC 272 is featured by one of the biggest hate fights ever in the UFC like Colby Covington will face Jorge Masvidal at the packed T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. This will be first major non-title PPV fight that hasn’t been a Conor McGregor or Nate Diaz title since 2015.

Cards are stacked with some great prospects and fighters. From the initial prelims to the main card, there are some fighters to keep an eye on but you need to revisit are in the prelims.

But that’s not the minimum event you’re here for.

Marina Rodriguez is a fighter worth watching in UFC 272 as she takes on a tough Xiaonan Yan in a big fight for the strawweight division.

Marina Rodriguez can fight for the next straw title

Rodriguez is 15-1-2 in her professional career and has quickly brought the straw weight class into the spotlight. She has seven overtime wins in her career, six of which have come by KO/TKO.

After the first loss of her career in 2020 to Carla Esparza through a split decision, Rodriguez has made some adjustments and has an undefeated year in 2021. She has won against Amanda Ribas, Michelle Waterson and Mackenzie Dern. Of those three dominant wins that Rodriguez has, she jumped to the top of the table and is currently the number three contender in the tournament.

Rodriguez has an excellent ability to hit Muay Thai and head. She is one of the few in the straw weight class that possesses that knockdown power. Her style is really round and has caused many difficulties for the opponent.

Attacking power is something to be valued, but Rodriguez has never been dominated. She only had one loss, which was through split decision and two draws. We haven’t seen a definite loss from Rodriguez yet, which speaks volumes about how great she really is.

Rodriguez is having a tough striker in Yan Saturday night. She proved herself to be the best attacker like Waterson as Rodriguez dominated for five innings in that fight. With a win this weekend at UFC 272, Rodriguez could be next for a title fight against the undisputed straw champ, Rose Namajunas.
