The Mets curse is in full effect just before opening day
New Chicago Cubs hurler Marcus Stroman can’t wait for his Wrigley Field debut to arrive later this week.
The countdown is almost over for Marcus Stroman to bring some light to the Chicago Cubs fans. Although Stroman has never played for his new club (minus spring training), he has become a fan favorite as his personality has garnered him countless followers.
Next Saturday, the stage is set for Stroman to make his Wrigley Field debut. For the starting slinger, it’s something he’s been looking forward to for quite some time.
Marcus Stroman is ready to start for the Cubs on Saturday
Stroman is jacked and that’s no surprise at all. From the moment Stroman signed with Chicago this offseason, he’s got everyone who loves the Cubs excited for the 2022 campaign.
After being retired from the 2020 season due to COVID concerns, Stroman rose again for the Mets last year and made 33 starts. He finished with a disappointing 10-13 record but posted a 3.02 ERA.
He received great interest in free agency but ultimately chose to continue his career with the Cubs. Stroman and Chicago agreed on a three-year deal that will net the rights $71 million. It’s been a big payday for him and now people are ready to see him earn that contract.
Stroman will have his first chance to please Chicago fans this weekend against the Brewers. Although the Cubs have a completely different feel in the new campaign, that doesn’t mean this club won’t have multiple stars. Stroman is one of them, and expectations for him will no doubt be high from start to finish in 2022.
