Marcus Mumford says debut solo album will be out in September

Mumford and Sons frontman Marcus Mumford has revealed the first essential details about his debut solo album, titled (self-titled).
In a handwritten note that was the first post uploaded to the singer’s Instagram account, Mumford announced that the album will be produced by Blake Mills, will be released on September 16, and will feature contributions from Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo and Monica Martin contains.
“In January 2021, when I was facing demons I had long danced with in isolation, I wrote a song called ‘Cannibal,'” wrote Mumford. “I took it to my friend Blake Mills and we started producing the album that is very close to my heart called ‘(self-titled)’.” See the full post below.
Prior to this social media post, Mumford had confirmed a solo album was on the way while attending Carlile’s show in Los Angeles in June. There he specifically stressed that his debut was created with “the full blessing and permission of the band I’m still in” — a stark response to massive speculation that Mumford and Sons might be breaking up after news leaked about the project .
During this show, Mumford and Carlile premiered their song together, with Mumford featuring it as the last song on his solo record. Check out this performance below.
diversity went on to confirm there were no plans for a Mumford and Sons split, and revealed that Mumford had started the writing process for (self-titled) to write songs for the group — before realizing that at least some of the new compositions would be enough of an exit to justify the frontman using them for a solo project instead.
