The Toronto Maple Leafs had a much-needed win last night against the Minnesota Wild 3-1. The Maple Leafs have been extremely conflicted lately and lost more than they won. Toronto is 1-3 in the last 4 and 5-5 in the last 10. They were unable to win together this month. Tonight, Toronto will travel to Detroit to take on the Red Wings, who are currently in fifth place in the Atlantic Division.
The Red Wings are on the verge of a massive 5-2 loss to the league’s top Avalanche. Red Wings is also playing very sublimely with a record of 5-7 in the last 12 matches. Here are the odds for tonight’s Original Six match, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
The Leafs took a big step back to the track on Thursday night when they blocked Wild’s error and walked away with a 3-1 victory. The team looks much more like the dominant defense starting the season and less like the team that has been beaten every night for the last month or so.
The Red Wings, meanwhile, are hitting a stride of their own lately and the team is finally starting to get closer together. Detroit also deals with consistency issues, but they’re a young team still trying to learn how to play together. In the last 10 games, the Red Wings have broken even, but in that span their total expected goals and 5v5 stats have both increased. While results are yet to come on some nights, this team is gathering steam and I think are ready for a breakout game. This could be that game.
The Maple Leafs are dealing with a virus running through the locker room that has forced Ilya Mikheyev out of the Wild game and the Red Wings are getting better and better with each game. I will be photographing domestic dogs here.
Pick: Red Wings +180 to win
