Mansfield woman charged with manslaughter of Boston police officer in Canton – CBS Boston

CANTON (CBS) – A Mansfield woman has been arrested in connected with death of Boston Police John O’Keefe, who was found unresponsive outside a Canton home on Saturday morning.
Norfolk County District Attorney said Karen Read, 41, was charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash that resulted in death and homicide in a motor vehicle.

O’Keefe appeared to have had a cold for some time before he was found outside near a Fairview Road home owned by people he knew. Investigators said Read drove to the area with O’Keefe early Saturday morning.
After being discovered, O’Keefe was taken to Good Samaritan hospital, where he is presumed dead.

Reading is scheduled to be scheduled for Wednesday morning.
“Additional narrative information may be included in the file during placement tomorrow,” District Attorney Morrissey said. “Our thoughts are very much tonight about the people John has left behind.”

O’Keefe is a 16-year veteran of the Boston Police Department.
