Manchester United tear up Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract after bombshell interview

Cristiano Ronaldo’s second stint as a Manchester United player is over, his contract ripped up after his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
The 37-year-old explained the club had “betrayed” him and poked fun at United manager Erik Ten Hag.
The split was described as an amicable agreement in a terse club statement released on Tuesday, two days before the Portugal captain’s first appearance at the World Cup.

“The club thank him for his immense contribution in two games at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wish him and his family all the best for the future,” said United.
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the progress of the team under Erik ten Hag and working together to succeed on the pitch.”
Ronaldo will captain Portugal – a team featuring former United team-mate Bruno Fernandes – against Ghana on Thursday.
