Man seriously injured when motorcycle crash sparks grass fire in Watalgan, near Bundaberg

A man is in a critical condition and a grass fire is burning after a motorcycle accident near Bundaberg in Queensland.

The man suffered serious injuries when the motorbike he was riding crashed on Algan Road at around 1pm on Thursday.

The motorcycle burst into flames and started a grass fire.

The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service issued a bushfire warning and advised locals to avoid the area and close doors and windows due to the smoke.

Nine rural firefighters and a fire and rescue team were on site.

Firefighting planes also bombarded the area with water.

QFES said around 2 hectares of grassland was burning.
