Man hospitalized after exchanging gunfire with Larimer County sheriff’s deputies in Fort Collins on Tuesday – Greeley Tribune

A man has been hospitalized after allegedly exchanging gunfire with deputies from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Collins Tuesday night.
At 10:33 p.m. Tuesday, an LCSO deputy attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at “high speed” on South Timberline Road in Fort Collins, according to a sheriff’s office release. The driver, an adult male, turned east on Prospect Road and eventually stopped his vehicle near Sharp Point Drive.
The man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, then opened the door and fired a handgun, according to the press release. A second MP came to help and both MPs on the scene returned fire, hitting the man. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, the press release said, adding that no MPs were injured in the incident.
The 8th Circuit Critical Incident Response Team, which is activated after all shootings involving officers, have been notified of the shooting and have taken over the investigation with Fort Collins Police Services as lead investigating agency. According to the press release, any further information on the incident will be released by FCPS.
