Man arrested after masturbating on rideshare: police

SAN MATEO, California (CROWN) – A man was arrested after exposing and touching himself in front of a female passenger in San Mateo, Calif., on Wednesday, police said in a press release. He was identified as 30-year-old Edward Holmes of Daly City.
According to police, Holmes began talking to the 23-year-old passenger about sex. The victim said she told Holmes she didn’t want to talk about sex. Holmes then reportedly exposed himself and began masturbating.
When the victim realized his actions, she said she pulled off the freeway, got out and told Holmes to get out of the vehicle.
However, as Holmes got out of the vehicle, he reportedly asked the driver if she wanted to see his genitals, according to the press release. Police say they found Holmes at a nearby intersection.
Holmes was arrested without incident but was searched by police. They found a fully concealed steak knife with a blade length of about 5 inches in the right pocket of his shorts. Holmes was sentenced to the San Mateo County Jail for indecent exposure and carrying a concealed dagger.
Police said Holmes was picked up by the victim in her rideshare car at around 3:45 p.m. at the Bridgepointe shopping center in San Mateo. About 15 minutes later, officers received the indecent exposure report.
This will remain and open an active investigation.
