Man, 94, is oldest Keizer University graduate – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

(WSVN) – An elderly man graduated from Keizer University, making him the oldest to graduate from the school.

Bob Blum, 94, will receive his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies on Friday.

His home in Naples contains mementos of his entire life.

“The funny thing is, growing up, we didn’t have television,” Blum recalls of his life. “When we were kids, we would come home from school and lay on our stomachs with our hands over our faces and you would stare at the radio.”

Blum dropped out of college to serve in the Air Force, worked in sales, and started a construction company.

“Whenever I had to fill out an application, I had to do my Abitur under the word Education and it went on like that for years. That humiliated me,” said Blum.

He went back to school to earn a degree from Keizer University.

“I came to the decision, ‘I really want to do this,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I really want to do that,'” Blum said.

His wife and daughter helped him keep his good grades.

“The only problem he had was with the computer,” said Blum’s wife Connie, “and it was interesting to watch him do it. I thought he would have more trouble absorbing the information than he did, but he did very well.”

Blum said this achievement is an important milestone in his life.

“This is the end of an era and maybe the beginning of a new one,” said Blum.
