World number 13 Emma Raducanu is ready to make her debut at the Billi Jean King Cup when she will represent Great Britain in qualifiers next month. The 19-year-old was named alongside him Harriet Dart, Katie Swan and Sonay Kartal in a young team that will play against the Czech Republic in the qualifiers on April 15-16.

The Brits will play against the Czechs on Prague’s clay courts and it could be a big challenge for them as the inexperience on their side could make it difficult to play on an unfamiliar surface given that Raducanu is still a professional on clay must play in the limelight only after Wimbledon 2021 and finally the 2021 US Open where she won the major.

While the Brits have two simultaneous tournaments on clay on tour from April 4, the WTA 500 event in Charleston and the WTA 250 event in Bogota, they can get a little familiar with the surface before heading to Driving Prague where you would need to show your best side.

“We are looking forward to the challenge of playing against the Czechs. Emma will be making her debut in singles despite having been part of our team in 2019 and 2020. Harriet and Katie have been an integral part of the team over the past few years whilst I’m delighted to bring this experience to Sonay for the first time.

“Each clash creates a unique pressure and intensity that I’m sure our players will benefit from, and although we have a tough challenge ahead of us against the Czechs, I’m a firm believer that our team will push themselves and will make their country proud.” said team captain Anne Keothavong according to LTA.
