Magic Millions: Skirt The Law storms home to claim 2-year-old Classic, fashion legend pulls out 3-year-old Guineas

Queensland coach Tony Gollan clinched his first Magic Millions win when Skirt The Law stormed home to win Thursday’s rescheduled $2 million 2YO Classic.

Skirt The Law ($7.20) took the lead down the stretch, finishing ahead of Platinum Jubilee and Summer Loving, who edged out Infatuation in a photo finish.

It was a triumph for all of Queensland when the all-female ownership group secured the coveted Racing Women’s Bonus.

“Amazing amazing we’ve been here on the Magic Millions circuit for quite a while now nothing compares to this moment sharing it with the girls,” one owner told Channel 7 after the race.

“It is really incredible. My husband is very emotional there. He can’t hold it together. It means a lot to us. He’s working very hard to syndicate these horses, we’ve just put together a fabulous group of women. It really is a fabulous initiative.”

The win was the third of three starts for the filly, despite not having raced in 47 days.

“She’s damn good, isn’t she?” Gollan told Channel 7 after the race.

“We haven’t driven for almost seven weeks now. We are lucky to have come here for this process.

“I didn’t show it but I was a bit nervous as I had to wait a few more days (after the rain washed out on Saturday).

“You have to have faith in your horse, we had a lot of faith in her today. She did everything right and was great.

“Probably up there with the biggest thrill I’ve had in racing today.”

Jockey Ryan Maloney was the race went exactly according to plan.

“After the barrier draw from track work I was so confident. The script went according to plan, it worked out perfectly for us beforehand,” he told Channel 7.

“She’s so versatile. She gives everything she has. Once I had that gap, it was basically all over.”

Outsider Fashion Legend secured an incredible win at the 3YO Guineas in an incredible finish.
