Lowest Masters score after 72 holes

The Masters is a tournament that is often tight and hard fought. However, there have been a few times where a player has run away with it.

Each year, The Masters is a tremendous test for every golfer who steps onto the first tee at Augusta National Golf Club. However, if the weather is a factor things can get harder than normal and we saw that on Friday for round two in 2022.

With whipping winds and falling temperatures, large numbers were erected everywhere. However, it was Scottie Scheffler who emerged from it with a surreal 5-under round that gave him a five-shot lead ahead of the weekend as he searched for the first major win of his career.

Scheffler continued to play well and stayed well ahead on Saturday as well. So much so that many were ready to put the green jacket on him already. However, it also led many golf fans to wonder what the Masters scoring record looks like.

Lowest Masters score for 72 holes

The goal record for the entire Masters tournament is actually relatively fresh. In 2020, when COVID-19 forced the event to be played in November instead of April, Dustin Johnson flashed at Augusta National Golf Club and set a mark never before seen.

Johnson posted an unreal four-round score of 268, which is good for 20 under par. This brand will likely stick around for quite a while.

In the events played in April, the record belongs to two fairly recognizable names including Augusta, Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth, who both won 1997 and 2015 with 18-under (270).

Lowest Masters score for 54 holes

Along the way to setting the 72-hole record for the tournament, Johnson also set the 54-hole record in Augusta. He was 16 under par for the first three rounds after shooting a 200 for the first three days. He continued the mark that Spieth set in 2015 on the way to his own victory.

Lowest Masters round in history

The lowest single round we’ve ever seen at Augusta National Golf Club is a 63, good for 9 under par, ever played by two players. Nick Price was the first to do so in his third round in 1986. Greg Norman then equalized in his infamous run at a 1996 Green Jacket when he got off to a flying start by getting that result on the first lap. Lowest Masters score after 72 holes
