Lost Ark’s servers have been randomly shut down due to an alleged problem with the auction house

Lost Ark players were in for an unpleasant surprise on March 19th when the servers kept crashing due to an alleged problem in the auction house. This emergency shutdown was not announced in advance as players were notified only minutes before they were booted out of the game, causing issues with the game’s timed content and limited entries.

This shutdown appeared to be impacting the NA East servers in particular, wrecking the East Coast and causing tons of lost loot and gear for players. On the official forums, community manager Shadow_Fox is currently removing usernames, servers, and lost loot to allegedly compensate players in a thread with over 1,400 posts at the time of this writing.

Although there was no official announcement as to why the servers were shutting down so quickly, players are noting that the issue may be related to a bug in the auction house. Players were reportedly able to cheat gold on the auction house, creating an issue where people were getting more gold than they were entitled to.

Despite this, Shadow_Fox did not provide any details about the shutdown, only releasing the following: “Although the servers will be brought back up, please note that we are still dealing with the issue that may cause instability, especially on Elzowin.”
