Lost Ark: Valtan Legion Raid – Gate Two Guide

Valtan is the first Legion Raid in Lost Ark, a series of extremely difficult battles that will require a lot of coordination between you and your teammates. You and your allies can form groups of up to eight people to battle Valtan, a two-part boss that’s intimidating, powerful, and capable of taking many tries.
In order to challenge Gate Two of Valtan, you must have previously completed Gate One before gaining access to this fight. If you’re fighting Valtan, you should have this Time Stop Potions, Corrosive Bombs, and Destruction Bombs. Bringing it with you is also strongly recommended Dark grenades.

Star Skills
Valtan has the same star abilities as Valtan’s Gate One. Star skills can be used by the raid leader and allow you to summon allies that cast powerful effects on your team. These abilities can be viewed at the top left of your screen. Once the bar below your skills is full, your raid leader can cast a star skill.
- Thirain
- Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Z
- Thirain appears on the battlefield and deals tons of damage to the boss. This skill is important in the final phase of the Valtan fight when you’re having trouble passing the DPS check.
- white
- Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + X
- Wei deals tons of stagger damage to the boss. Wei isn’t that important in Valtan’s Gate Two, and you probably won’t be using Wei in this fight.
- Balthorr
- Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + C
- Balthorr summons a circle of light. Everyone in the circle gains damage reduction and bump immunity. Balthorr is often used to ensure your team can survive a variety of patterns in this game.
Tower Tackle – Armor Break
Valtan starts the raid at the beginning with two layers of armor that you need to break with weak point damage. If you don’t break the armor in time, he will take significantly less damage. However, you can only break Valtan’s armor after he incapacitates himself by running into a wall.
During the first phase, Valtan will charge up and prepare for it approach a random player running straight into them. Group up with your team in front of one of the many walls while he’s attacking, then charge out while he’s attacking. Valtan cannot change direction and he will run headfirst into the wall. He will then be stunned, allowing you to deal weak point damage. Valtan will then attack and attack your team periodically at random intervals.

Be sure to save your weak point damage during this part of the mechanic. Use a caustic bomb to increase the strength of everyone’s weak point damage. Also, throw out Destruction Bombs, which also deal weak point damage. Eventually, Valtan’s armor will break, allowing you to do more damage.
This mechanic lasts up to x130 HP. After this phase Valtan can skillen approach Player randomly during battle. However, you will be able to counter him.
Armor piercing axes
During the Armor Break mechanic, Valtan will occasionally blow up and become unassailable. Axes will rain down on your team for several seconds. A huge AoE attack will then land, dealing significant damage to anyone caught in the blast. When hit by axes, you take moderate damage and are briefly stunned. If you get caught by an ax, chances are you won’t be able to charge out.
You can dodge the axes by guiding your team to specific locations on the map. You and the rest of the team should continue walking in circles, which will condense the spread of the axes and allow you to dodge the axes.

To dodge the huge AoE attack, you can go to wherever Valtan had breached a wall. Where the wall is breached, find a narrow safe spot to dodge the AoE attack. If you don’t make it to the safe place, you can opt for a Time Stop Potion instead of this.
Valtan can do that Axes randomly throughout the rest of the raid.
Instant kill
This mechanic starts at x130 HP. Valtan performs an attack consisting of two ax attacks on the ground. The second attack in this mechanic will kill players instantly. You can not Use a time stop potion to stop this attack.

There are two methods to clear this mechanic. If Valtan breaks through a wall during the Armor Break phase, two blue orbs will fall to the ground. These blue orbs protect you from ax attacks in this phase. (You must dodge the first ax attack or your protection will wear off.) Each player must take an orb to tank the second attack.
The easiest method is to simply use the Sidereal ability: Balthorr, which grants players a buff that allows them to tank the second attack. Although this method is easier, you should learn the first method so that you can use the Sidereal ability: Thirain skill instead, which allows you to do more damage.
columns
This mechanic starts at x110 HP. Valtan summons a pillar in the North, South, East, and West positions. Valtan leaps into the sky and spawns a huge yellow attack indicator. To avoid this attack, hide behind one of the pillars. A red, cone-shaped attack indicator is then fixed on a random player. If the player wobbles around, they should notice the red attack meter no longer chasing them. This means Valtan will soon launch an attack.

Aim the attack indicator between two pillars and then run behind a pillar or move out of the red zone and use a Time Stop Potion. This will happen twice. The second time, allies can attack Valtan if he targets the same player. If Valtan hits a pillar, the pillar will explode, dealing significant damage.
At the end of this mechanic, the pillars will explode.
First card break
At x85 HP, Valtan will jump into the sky. After a moment, a red attack meter will appear on the north or south side. Valtan lands on the attack indicator and destroys the map. Group in the middle and move to the side of the map that is still intact.

Valtan’s basic attacks can be launched from here pushes you off the map. If you’re playing on the exposed side of the map and you get hit by an attack, you most likely will fall down and die instantly.
After Valtan breaks the stage and returns to the center of the map, he will run a second Pillars mechanic. Follow the same directions as the first Pillars mechanic, just note that the area you can move around is much smaller due to the broken map.
Three, two, one, counter

This mechanic starts at x65 HP. Valtan leaps into the air and slams back onto the ground. Players will notice a delayed explosion under their feet, which they should run away from to avoid damage. This is followed by a cutscene in which Valtan prepares a powerful instant kill. After the cutscene ends, count to three seconds. In the third second, Valtan can be countered. Your entire team should use his counter ability to ensure Valtan doesn’t kill your party outright.
Second card break

A second map break starts at x40 HP. Valtan will perform the same mechanics as the first map break. He will break the side of the card that is still intact. From here, you can always be knocked off the edge of the map. Play extra carefully to make sure you don’t fall off the map.
Ghost phase preparation

Valtan will prepare to enter the final “ghost phase” with about x15 HP. Valtan will perform a variety of hard-to-dodge attacks designed to knock players off the map.
- Valtan swings his ax once in each direction: north, south, east, and west.
- He will start smashing the ground and summoning explosions on players. You can dodge this by paying attention to the direction of the explosions and going either clockwise or counterclockwise.
- He will smash the ground and create an explosion + shockwave.
- He will perform a shortened version of the Pillars mechanic with three Pillars that will explode. There will be a corner with no pillar that you need to go to.
It is highly recommended to use the Star Skill: Balthorr. While you’ll take damage if you don’t dodge these mechanics properly, killing you with potions isn’t enough and you don’t run the risk of being pushed off the map.
ghost phase

After completing the Ghost Phase Prep, Valtan transforms into a ghost. Valtan recovers to x30 HP and takes less damage and gains armor stacks. He will periodically summon spirits across the map that will act defendable attacks. You should fend off all these attacks to become yours Sidereal skill bar.
Use Sidereal Skill: Thirain to deal significant damage and bypass armor. You can remove armor stacks by countering the spirits. This stage is quite difficult. Focus on dodging attacks instead of dealing damage.
After completing this phase, you will have successfully completed the Valtan raid. Follow Valtan by completing the Vykas raid, which you can check out in this guide here.
