Looking back at the 1996 NBA Draft, 25 years later

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the 1996 NBA Draft. That draft, along with 1984 and 2003, is considered one of the greatest drafts of all time. Not only is it filled with good players, but it also offers some of the most culture-breaking players in league history.

This draft has its fingerprints throughout the 2020-2021 season. For starters, Steve Nash is the team’s head coach brooklyn network. Allen Iverson and the late Kobe Bryant are two of the icons that current players idolize and serve as a model for their careers later. Not to mention that the greatest unskilled player in NBA history are not heard his name on draft day 96 but will be entering the Hall of Fame this September.
