Liverpool add legendary Brazilian goalkeeper to the coaching staff – Liverpool FC

Liverpool have added legendary Brazilian goalkeeper Claudio Taffarel to their first team, with the 55-year-old arriving on an offer from Alisson.

The Red Devils have turned to support Jurgen KloppThe team’s logistics staff increased with the addition of Taffarel, who last worked in football club with Galatasaray.

A legendary player who has 101 caps for Brazil as well as playing for clubs like Internacional, Parma, Atletico Mineiro and Galatasary, Taffarel is arranged to work alongside current goalkeeping coaches John Achterberg and Jack Robinson.

Based on ScoredNeil Jones, his role will be as senior goalkeeping coach, which he will run alongside his ongoing duties with the Brazil national team.

Taffarel has held talks with the club over the summer and was at the training ground in Kirkby last week, and will now begin training sessions as he is granted a Kingdom work permit Brother.

He came after an introduction from Alisson, with whom he works with Brazil, and comes after Liverpool’s No 1 signed a new six-year contract just three months ago.

Although Taffarel will work with Achterberg and Robinson, his appointment could raise doubts about Achterberg’s future in particular.

Achterberg has been with Liverpool since 2009, and although he is loved and respected in the first team and squad, it seems unlikely that the club will retain the three goalkeeping coaches for long.

During senior training sessions, Achterberg and Robinson often work with a team of three or four goalkeepers, with Alisson supported by Caoimhin Kelleher, Adrian and either Loris Karius or a young player.

Recently, 18-year-old Brazilian Marcelo Pitaluga has been regularly training for the first team, and it would not be surprising if Taffarel is brought in to support the development of his compatriot.

Talking to NS Letters in 2020, Alisson honors Taffarel as a pioneer for Brazilian goalkeepers in Europe.

“Taffarel is a big man, a big boss,” he said.

“He was an inspiration to our young goalkeepers and now I have the opportunity to work with him in the national team because he is the goalkeeping coach.

“He was the first Brazilian goalkeeper to play in Europe.

“He opened the way for a new generation, for people to look more at Brazilian goalkeepers, the same way that Ederson and I were doing, the same way Dida did at AC Milan, the same way. Julio Cesar worked at Inter.

“We have to continue to show people the quality of Brazilian goalkeepers.”
